DRACULA’S BOOKSHELF

DRACULA IN LOVE By Karen Essex

With her fifth novel, Dracula in Love, author Karen Essex has become the umpteenth author to reimagine Bram Stoker’s seminal work. There have been myriad versions sometimes told from the title character’s point of view, others written through the eyes of his nemesis, Dr. Van Helsing.

BLOOD AND ROSES By Nicole Hadaway

Part of the fun of reading vampire novels is wondering which traits from vampiric lore the author will give his or her vampires, such as, “can they walk in sunlight?”

FILM

The Metropol Viewing Room

The Lair of the White Worm (England, 1988) is a vampire tale in only the most vague sense, directed by the always weird Ken Russell from his adaptation of the Bram Stoker novel by the same name. The film is about an often naked half-human, half-snake immortal named Lady Sylvia.

30 Days of Night is an adaptation of a successful, and really good, comic book by Steve Niles with art by Ben Templesmith about the small Alaskan town of Barrow as it encounters its yearly month-long “night.”

Why Werewolves Will NOT Be The Next Big Thing!

Every couple of  years new trends tend to appear in horror movies- Monster movies, ghost stories, slasher pixs. I don't think werewolves are suddenly going to join these.
